Feasting With Jesus
John 14:6 (ESV) – “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”
The words are written in red, meaning those are Jesus’ words. Read them again. Did you catch it? Jesus says HE is THE way, THE truth and THE life. We look to worldly things to satisfy a longing inside of us, but it only leaves us hungry for more. We are never truly satisfied.
Picture this. You are invited to dinner by Jesus. He sets the table for you, complete with a place card with your name on it. There is a seat for you at His table!! Sometimes we get distracted during the feast, and we push away from the table. We scoot our seats back and take our attention off the host. We may check our phone, or indulge in gossip with the person next to us. We might check the score of the big game we are missing. Whatever it is, it distracts us from the One who matters most; we get distracted away from the Host.
But Jesus – He patiently and lovingly waits for us to turn our attention back to Him, scoot our chairs back up to the table, and start a conversation back up with Him and spend time with the One who invited us in the first place. He fills our half-empty cup to overflowing and gives us a sense of overwhelming peace and unending joy. Even IF and even WHEN we get up from the table or even IF we walk away from the table completely for a time, our seat awaits us and the invitation is always there. The invitation is never rescinded.
How do you spend time with Jesus?
